Annoucement from Thursday, May 9, 2019

Dear Valued SSC Members and Partners,
Happy Spring! The committee is looking for interested parties to contribute their expertise and time by serving on a Project Technical Committee (PTC). The PTC provides expert advice and guidance to the researcher, evaluating the project plan, progress reports, and final report. Comments from PTC members directly influence the progression of the project and are of great value to the researchers. If you are interested in participating as a PTC member, please contact me no later than June 7, 2019. If you are interested in leading the PTC as its Chair, please let me know that also.
The project is titled "Localized Weld Repair of Fatigue-Cracked and/or Corrosion-Damaged Aluminum Structures". For more information, the initial project idea submission can be found on the SSC website. This project was originally selected by the committee in 2017 and is designed to develop localized low-heat-input weld repair techniques for aluminum vessel structures, where fatigue-cracked and corrosion-damaged aluminum components are repaired by employing a weld cladding process. The contractor has not yet been determined.
Please contact me with any questions.
Thank you for your support of the Ship Structure Committee!
Sincerely,
Jonathan Duffett, LT, USCG Executive Director Ship Structure Committee (202) 372-1022 Jonathan.B.Duffett@uscg.mil www.shipstructure.org
